How to tell people to be quiet in the library?

In my college library we have one level that is supposed to be completely silent. I am trying to work on a paper, and can not concentrate if people around me are talking, especially if they are whispering which is more distracting I think than regular talking. How do I politely tell them to stop. I am ready to snap at them. How to tell people to be quiet in the library?
This is where you need a gun carrying Republican - LOL
We have that at my school, too, and usually people adhere to that rule very strictly (it's the fifth floor, which is also the top floor, so if you made the effort to go all the way up there you have no reason to be talking). I would just politely say "excuse me guys, this level of the library is supposed to be silent and I'm trying to study, so could you please stop talking or move to another floor?". Maybe if there's other students around who are also trying to study, you could get additional support from them if they also seemed annoyed by it (strength in numbers, lol). How to tell people to be quiet in the library?
If it's specifically a silent floor, there is no need to get all worried about politeness here. No, you don't want to be rude, but you don't need to get all worried, either. Just say, "This is the silent floor guys, and I'm trying to study. Thanks."
Do the classic librarian move. A loud husshhhh ! Or ask them to please go to another section if the library. Cleverest thing to do is point to a sign that says no talking .

Good luck !How to tell people to be quiet in the library?
You tell them your trying to do your work could they please be silent or you can move some where else. They have a right to whisper in there as they may be doing a group assignment which requires team work.
Just explain that you are working on a paper and if they would please take their convorsation elsewhere.
Been there, you can't now a days. It's allowed.

How do I put iPod touch apps into my Library?

I want to put applications from my iPod INTO the library. Not the other way around. But how?How do I put iPod touch apps into my Library?
When you connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, items are automatically synced according to your preferences set in iTunes. You can, for example, enter phone numbers and addresses of friends and family members on your computer, connect iPhone or iPod touch to sync, then unplug iPhone or iPod touch and tap a friend's name on the touchscreen to call. APPS are also auto synced!

You use iTunes on your computer to set up which items are synced. Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes (On a PC, open iTunes and choose Help %26gt; Check for Updates. On a Mac, open iTunes and choose iTunes %26gt; Check for Updates.)

Step 1: Connect iPhone or iPod touch

1. Connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer using the included cable. You can connect the cable from your computer directly to iPhone or iPod touch, or connect the cable from your computer to the Apple Universal Dock (available separately) and put iPhone or iPod touch in the dock. By default, iTunes opens automatically.

2. Select iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes under Devices on the left hand side and click the Info tab.

Step 2: Set Up Which Items Are Synced

Click the respective tabs in iTunes to specify which media and information you want synced from your computer to iPhone or iPod touch.

For more information about syncing iPhone with your computer see the iPhone User's Guide:

On your computer: Click here to see a version of the User Guide content in your web browser. Click here to download and view a PDF of the iPhone User Guide.

On iPhone: Tap Safari and view http://help.apple.com/iphone/guide/.

For more information about syncing iPod touch with your computer:

On your computer, click here to download and view a PDF of the iPod touch User Guide.

On iPod touch: Tap Safari and view http://help.apple.com/ipodtouch/guide/.

Step 3: Sync iPhone or iPod touch

Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the screen. Your computer syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.

The first time you sync iPhone or iPod touch, you are asked if you want to merge data, replace data on the service, or replace the data on your computer. After that, anytime you connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, iTunes opens and syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.

You can adjust sync settings anytime iPhone or iPod touch is connected to your computer. You can only connect and sync with one iPhone or iPod touch at the same time. If you need to sync more than one iPhone or iPod touch, disconnect one before connecting the other. How do I put iPod touch apps into my Library?

If you have further questions, contact with me or keep asking on http://answers.yahoo.comIs there a way to download already purchased music into your iTunes library again?
As long as your songs/videos are still on your iPod, you can use an iPod transfer program to help you get them back to your iTunes.

Simply use an iPod transfer program to help you, like this handy one called Tansee iPod Transfer http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tanse鈥?/a>

Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer.

With just a few simple clicks, it will help you transfer all songs/videos from iPod to your selected folder on your computer, and then you can easily add those files back to iTunes.

More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song titles are preserved.
You can use an ipod to computer transfer program to help. I personally use Cucusoft iPhone/iTouch/iPod to Computer Transfer. It helps me to transfer my songs/videos/photos from ipod to computer directly and safety. It works well for me,you can give it a try.

  • Why would anyone bring a baby to the library?

I'm at the library right now listening to a baby cry. Any reason I shouldn't go offer some child-care tips to the person who brought the baby?|||I love babies and there are often times when I hear a baby crying and i wonder if the parent(s) would like me to "help" but most often I just feel like it's not really my place to offer -- unless there's some obvious problem or need. If you are just annoyed that the baby is there -- oh well! I hope for everyone's sake that the baby stops crying soon and feels better. I don't know how old the baby is -- but perhaps the parents wanted to go to the library and didn't want to leave the baby home and assumed the baby would only minimally bother people. Or if the baby is older, perhaps they want to read to the baby!|||Maybe they have no choice!

Movies...no...but see people who do and don't mind if they can keep them quiet but that's a different situation. The movie lasts 2 hours and you don't want to waste your money and take the chance...in a library...you're in there for something and can leave at any time.|||You shouldn't because it isn't any of your business. That may be a single mother who's struggling her way through college so she can provide a better future for her child and uncompromising people like you may just sabatoge her struggle enough that she gives up.

Some people don't have childcare at the tips of their fingers.|||well they probably need a book but if it was me, i might take my baby with me to the library

but i would be considerate enough to walk outside with her if she started crying.|||Not unless the child-care advice includes your watching her tot while she peruses the library.

Babies cry. It'll stop when mommy fixes whatever is wrong.

    Edit:

Emotional Reactions??? Hmmm...consider where you posted this question...and then rethink that remark.

I had brought our baby to the movies as a newborn- I nursed her in her sling and she was perfectly content and happy for the entire movie...but, you'd probably not like nursing in public either.|||Moms need to go to the library too... I take both my kids with me.... a 3 yr old and a 5 month old. My 3 yr old gets books... and I look at them. I have no choice but to take them. Be a little considerate. Babies are everywhere.. we can't just NOT take them places b/c we're worried about other people... Get used to it.

If we WANTED to bring our babies to the movies, we could.. it's not off limits to us. I personally do not. But it doesn't bother me when people do. We're not going to stop doing things we love just because we have children.|||Im sure the staff would say something if the crying was getting out of control.

Be polite, and ignore it.|||youre at the public library, right? besides, libraries offer story groups for babies so get a headset|||What a jerk! I had to bring my baby to the library when I was going to school..sometimes we are just doing the best we can. How about being apathetic and grow up!|||DO NOT offer child care tips to a mother with a screaming child in public. she is probly at the library trying to research how to help her sick/crying/whatever baby and you coming up WILL NOT help.|||do you realise how expensive childcare can be??? and plus you can't be concentrating too much if you're on YA???|||there are ppl who don't have anyone to help or who can't afford day care (it's extremely expensive nowadays) and they need to do some research and have no choice. have a little compassion, i'm pretty sure when u were a baby some ppl might have given ur mother those kinda looks.|||well who cares it probally is very annoying but you don't know why that person has the baby there with her???maybe the person really needs to study and couldn't find a babysitter??

don't go say anything to them it would be rude unless you know the situation!|||be nice i like babies|||Because some people like me are stay at home moms, I have no one to watch my son until 6:30 when my partner gets home, so if I need to go places sometimes my son has to go with me, yes if my son was crying I would deffinately take him out because libraries are quiet places. But theres nothing wrong with taking a baby to the library and some women have no other choice. No you dont go offer child care tips, I'm sure she knows how to take care pfher child just fine. She doesn't need someone like you to help her!|||if someone dared to offer me baby care tips just because my baby was crying i would be pissed and probably go off on them. im sure that is true with most mothers out there. she is there because she needs some sort of information and i applaud her for going to the library, with her baby, and finding her answers.|||I know it's a tough one, but if you talk in a library then you are asked to quiet down.

The person really should leave and calm the baby down then return, I've had to do this at weddings and birthdays.

It's only fair to the other people|||Since when did mothers run library's??? They don't. Complain!

Actually my library has signs up about children. If your child is making a racket you are asked to leave.

I recently took my 6 month old %26amp; 3yo boys to the library. My 6 month old started shrieking. I was so embarrassed. I sat down and feed him. He was settled within 2 minutes.

It is called MANNERS, if your child cried, pick it up and settle it. If it continues take it out of the library. No mother has the right to have her child scream in a library. They are quiet for a reason. Just because you have a child, DOESN'T make you above the rules.

I can't believe some of these answers. Some people need a reality check. Just because your world revolves around your child, doesn't mean everyone else needs to hear it scream.

I would have said something %26amp; I am a mother of 3! You don't need child care to visit a library, just common sense parenting.|||It's better than not going because they didn't have a babysitter. It is pretty rude, though...but you can't control a baby crying. But I guess that's what happens when you have a baby when you're fifteen...|||I wonder the same thing. The librarians would not hesitate to shush someone who is talking or whose cell phone rings, but let a baby scream and everyone is afraid to say something... why? Because babies are off-limits when it comes to criticism. Yes, you DO have a choice, don't go to the library when the kid is awake if it's going to disturb others. What do you do with the kid when you're in class? Take it with you? I bet not. Leave it with the same person you leave it with when you're in class. Wait until nap time. Check the books out that you need and leave, go to the park, take them home. Just because it's your little precious baboo doesn't mean everyone else wants to hear it.|||Lots of people don't leave their babies. I agree with you, however, that the library shouldn't be the place they visit.

Is there a way to transfer an Itunes library from one computer to another?

The original computer does not have a CD re-writer so I can't just back the library up to a disk then transfer it. Is there a way to transfer an Itunes library from one computer to another?
I am using an iTunes backup program. It is a full solution when you want to backup your iTunes and transfer the whole iTunes library from one computer to another.

I especially like its one-click mode. Slick.

And more importantly, it enables complete transfer.

You can give it a try. Hope this helps you.Is there a way to transfer an Itunes library from one computer to another?
You can copy all the files to a USB stick, and then copy them from that to the seconds computer (this will take quite a while if you have a lot of songs - i did this with about 800). You will only lose songs if a) they aren't copied to the USB or b) the USB is unplugged during transfer, which will corrupt the files. If there are a -lot- of songs, you may need to do a sort of relay - copy a batch, clear the USB off, then copy the next batch.

Or, if the computers are networked, you can copy the files across the network i.e. copy from computer 1 and paste in a file on computer 2.Is there a way to transfer an Itunes library from one computer to another?
Could you use a USB port to transfer all of the songs to a USB stick and then transfer them to another computer... thats what I did.. but I still ended up loosing a lot of songs. Good Luck!!

Don't auto sync because ipod can only sync with one computer itunes or the ipod files will be erased.

itunes blocks this function since itunes is the tool with one way to transfer files from itune to ipod. you must utilize other tools to achieve that. There're couple of tools for transferring the files between ipod and computer (for backup)depends on your demands, e.g transfer only songs/videos, transfer photos etc. You can have a look of below review site, hope it useful.

What is more appropriate to use in reseaching, library or internet? Why?

What are the benefits we can get in researching in the library and in the internet and what is the difference between them?

The longest and the more detailed answer will be the best answer. What is more appropriate to use in reseaching, library or internet? Why?
I'm sorry to sound confusing, but the answer is both! There are lots of reputable resources on the internet - particularly if you want to search for governmental information, you can specify sites from the .gov or .edu domains (just do a google search and add site:gov or site:edu to narrow it down to these). You can also access information from reputable and free sources like Smithsonian, Library of Congress, British Library, the National Library of Medicine's database PubMed and so on. There are hundreds upon hundreds (and millions!) of great sites, but it just depends on the topic and the type of research you are doing. You need to either have some very good evaluation skills or access someone who can help you with this. This is where libraries can be really helpful! Just knowing how to use a search engine doesn't mean you have found relevant or reliable sites.

Libraries can provide many print resources - books and peer reviewed journals, along with subscription databases, which are great for research as the print publishing process is more complex and has more legal framework to ensure accuracy and honesty than web publishing does. Frankly, anyone can write anything and publish it on the internet. Because of this, many libraries also put together lists of useful websites too (known as gateways). Librarians can also recommend great websites - even wikis or blogs and listserv archives, which are great for some research projects, depending on the authority and topicality of their content, and of course, the nature of the research. Some research into concepts, ideas and opinions can gain a lot from looking at editorial resources on the internet, but consulting a reference librarian would be a great starting point when trying to evaluate such possibilities. You don't even have to physically go to a library to get advice - many now offer chat or e mail reference which is very convenient.

Ultimately, libraries and internet are NOT mutually exclusive when researching. Like a printing press, the internet is just a medium of publication, and libraries will collect resources from it just as they will from the world of print publishing. Internet publication even benefits from being able to upload updates much more quickly than in the print realm, so it can often give you more up to date information than print resources can. The library is simply a place which will help guide you towards discovery and evaluation of what you can find in both these publishing worlds.
    Dear friend,

Its obviously the INTERNET. This is because you can get required topics at click of a mouse. It consumes very less time. But in a library you might spend half of the time turning pages to get your info.

Some of the search engines on INTERNET are as follows.

    1. www.google.com

    2. www.altavista.com

    REGARDS,

    SIMHA

simhaprasanna@yahoo.co.inWhat is more appropriate to use in reseaching, library or internet? Why?
I always use the Internet for researching because it's easier and faster. If I use the library, for researching, it might take me a while, no make that a LONG time. I have to search for the right book, and right page and whatnot. But if I use the Internet, all I do is type in the words or phrase in the search engine, I get my answes in seconds. But if we use the Internet, the tendency is that we might not be able to read the researched topic. All we do is Copy and Paste it and Print. If we do the library we actually read and understand them.
The library is always more reputable but you may want to look into academic search engines on the web as well. Most are run by subscription through a school but I know Google has a free academic search engine.

http://scholar.google.com/What is more appropriate to use in reseaching, library or internet? Why?
Library, because not everything you read on the internet can be accurate. Encyclopedia Britanica Online, for example has an average of 4 erros per report, while Wikipedia has an average of 3. Not to mention Wikipedia never checks out their reports because they are all user-submitted so they have to rely on users giving accurate information.
When you are doing research on a topic, the internet is good, but limited to what someone felt compelled to put up on a website. In the library, you not only have books that may deal with your topic, but because of how a library is organized, it is helpful to go to the actual shelf in the library where books on your topic are stored. This is where you will often find titles that might not have come up when you do a search for books about your topic, but will contain other books that are related to your topic. Libraries even sometimes have what is known as a shelf list to help you find these other sources.

Yeah its illegal, you need to have a valid unused upc code. if you are coNnected to the internet and so is the library you would both be using that upc. You probably don't want to move your iTunes to the D Drive, seeing as though it is the Recovery drive. The E drive is the CD-ROM one just fyi.... If you're running out of memory in the C Drive, maybe you could delete some of the useless crap on there, I'm sure there is a ton of it, there always is ;). i think it's worthwhile to use a program to transfer your iTunes library from one computer to any storage device including what you need d drive since you requirement that the playlists, ratings should be retained. On the third-party program i would like to recommend Aniosoft iTunes transfer, with which you can not only backup your iTunes library but also in a proper way with the library's internal metadate, playlists, ratings and etc which you required. The backup files of iTunes library could be able to be recovered and restored later to any iTunes(authorized or not) W/out any change and risk in itunes'layout and arangement including its playlists simlpy through synchronizing it to the iTunes whenever needed. So try the Aniosoft iTunes transfer and it'll possibly work out for you.

D drive is normally the CD/DVD writer so you will need to copy your music to the CD or DVD. This needs a burning programme like Nero. I don't think it can be set as a default because of this.

Why not get a flash drive and transfer your music library to it. Just plug it into a USB port when you need to copy music to it. No burning software necessary.

Hello, as long as your songs are still on your iPod, you can get them back to your computer and iTunes easily.

The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod-to-computer transfer program to help you, like this handy one called Tansee iPod Transfer

    http://www.gutensoft.com/Utilities/Tanse鈥?/a>

Many of my friends are using it for its easy and safe transfer. The whole process goes as follows:

Firstly install this program on your computer. When you plug your iPod to the computer, this program will instantly display all songs and videos on the iPod.You simply select what you wish to transfer and click "Copy" button. Done. All your selected files will be copied to your computer safely. Now you can easily add those songs and videos to your iTunes library. See detailed guide.

More importantly, this won't overwrite any original files on your iPod. And all song names are preserved.

Here is step-by-step guide on the whole process:

    - Store on a hard drive and move the iTunes library to the new computer

    - Use Migration Assistant if you're transporting the iTunes library from an older Mac.

    - Use a USB/Firewire cord and transfer the files between the two computers.

I know i can "migrate" my itunes library by copying the entire music directory that itunes is configured for, pasting it on another computer and then telling the new copy of itunes on the other computer that the music directory for it to use is the pasted folder (and it works, at least on a windows based pc).

the most important folder in the transfer process is the itunes folder in the music directory, it contains the itunes user music database which is a database of all your songs.

with this method you do not need to authorise your pc because it looks like the original music library and all your song names, artwork and ratings are kept intact.

Good Luck!!

How to transfer music from my itunes library to a CD?

I need to get a few of the songs in my itunes library onto a cd. I have no idea how to do this so please explain it VERY slowly and so I can understand it.How to transfer music from my itunes library to a CD?
    Here are the steps:

    1. Open up iTunes

    2. Create a playlist with the songs you want on the CD.

    3. Put in a blank CD-R disc (it can be either music or data). If you're using Windows, you may see a window pop up asking you what to do. Say "Do Nothing."

4a. If you have Windows: Right-click on the playlist and click "Burn."

4b. If you have a Mac: On the bottom of the iTunes window, click "Burn Disc."

    5. If any confirmation windows come up, just say OK.

    6. The disc should burn by itself, which takes several minutes. When it's done, iTunes will tell you, and you can eject your newly burned CD.

Can the public library make me pay for 2 books that grew mold after I returned them?

I checked out 2 books from my public library. I kept them on my bookcase where I keep my other books. I dropped them off in the return box that is kept outside and during labor day weekend (while it was raining) I returned them. The books were in perfect condition when I dropped them off and now the library wants me to pay for them growing mold. All my other books that I keep on the bookcase has no mold what so ever. Can the public library make me pay for 2 books that grew mold after I returned them?
They shouldn't make you pay, because the damage occurred after you dropped the books off. It is their fault for having a faulty returns system. Surely, they must have thought about the possibility of rain and so made the returns box water tight. If they haven't, then they should rethink their system.
Haha!! how on the arth did it grow MOLD?? Mabey it's your book case... you should clean it......NOW BEFORE THE MOLD INFECTS YOUR WHOLE HOUSE!!!!Can the public library make me pay for 2 books that grew mold after I returned them?
    no
    Yes,

You borrowed the books and did not return them in the same shape. The fact that the mold grew later is not material; the other books in the return bin were not moldy so the books were exposed to mold in your bookcase. That makes it your responsibility. Can the public library make me pay for 2 books that grew mold after I returned them?
NO! Dont you dare pay for these books! Go to your local council if they persist with the payment.
    yes
I would explain that situation to the head librarian. They should understand that sometimes accidents happen, although it seems the fault was theirs. If they insist on having you pay for them, you have some options.

    1. Stiff them

    2. Hire an attorney

    3. Replace the books.

I would most definitely do some research on the matter. Ask for a written 'contract' explaining your rights and theirs. Get factual evidence the fault lies with them. ie weather reports to state it was in fact raining, pictures showing the ill placed book return.

Hope this helps. If the books aren't to expensive to replace, I would just go ahead and replace them. Try to find the copies on Amazon. In no way shape or form would I replace those books with new copies though.
Yes, they can make you pay for them . It may have been you, after all, who left the return box partially open. The library is probably charging more people that you whose returned books got moldy, and though books can be costly they won't be as expensive a a stock-up at the grocery store. It won't hurt too dreadfully and you'll be in good standing with the library again.
Yes the public library can. Sorry.
If you decide to pay just ask them if you can buy 2 new books of the same title, because the library will probably make you pay list price where you can get a big discount on amazon, or maybe even get the books for like 1 dollar in the used books of amazon.com

How do you file books in a library?

I remember something about Dewey Decimal system and by last name?

I forgot. How do you file books in a library? How do you file books in a library?
Depending on the library, it's either by the Library of Congress System or Dewey Decimal System. Most school and public libraries use the Dewey Decimal system, which is divided into 10 basic categories.

The non-fiction books are arranged by Dewey number. If the books have the same Dewey number, they are arranged within that number by the author's last name. For instance, "baseball" is 796.357. If have one baseball book by Jones, one by Bennett, and one by Zimmerman, the "Bennett" would go first, then Jones, then Zimmerman.

Many libraries separate the fiction from the non-fiction and arrange the fiction by author's last name. Some pull out the different genres and shelve them together. How do you file books in a library?
exactly what you said. the dewey decimal system kids sections preteens suspense romance adult non fiction and fiction etc. depending on the quantity of books of a certain type or genre oh and its last name then title of book

if you want more info you can like email meHow do you file books in a library?
    Anglo American Cataloging Rules 2

Fiction books go by author. If an authors writes more than one book, then you go by title.

Dewey is great for school and public libraries to keep nonfiction books together by subject. Within subject by author.

Do volunteers have a right to tell patrons the rules at the library?

Is a volunteer at the library considered a staff member even if they are 13 years old?? I mean its kind of weird how minors volunteer there and I always wondered, if a patron was stealing, misbehaving, doing something wrong, breaking the rules of the library, do volunteers count as being a staff there that have every right to ban you if the customer isnt behaving??

What about if there are young volunteers??? Like how does a minor 13 have authority over an adult and he/she would work at the library as a volunteer?Do volunteers have a right to tell patrons the rules at the library?
As a volunteer, you have a paid staff member who is your "boss," correct?

Ask them what you should do if you see a patron "stealing, misbehaving, doing something wrong, breaking the rules of the library."

Don't take it upon yourself to police the library unless you are told that's one of your volunteer duties.
Of course, the volunteer would have the right to enforce the rules of the library. In the best case scenario, the volunteer (regardless of age) would go get the help of an employee.....but, if that is not possible, then the volunteer still has the right (and the responsibility) to act on the behalf of the library.Do volunteers have a right to tell patrons the rules at the library?
The volunteer has the authority of the position. If an adult is behaving so badly that a 13 year old needs to reprimand or punish that adult, the adult should not feel insulted by the insolence of a child but should instead be ashamed that a 13 year old respects the rules that he cannot.
Always report such infractions to the librarian. It's the librarian who has the authority do act upon information about any unwanted goings-on.Do volunteers have a right to tell patrons the rules at the library?

How do i get my CD artwork onto my Itunes library?

Im downloading all my old cds onto my itunes library and my cd artwork isnt coping into my library. How can i fix this? How do i get my CD artwork onto my Itunes library?
Once you have all your music in, you can right click on a song and select "Get Album Artwork" which should get the Album Art for all the tracks in the library.

However, if some Album Art is not acquired, you can always Google the album and you should get plenty of image results. Then, you can just copy the artwork and paste it.

My library lends out videos of movies; would it be legal for them to lend out video games?

I'm thinking of donating a good deal to the local library, if it's legal for them to loan them out in the first place. Anyone know the law?My library lends out videos of movies; would it be legal for them to lend out video games?
    Legal, yes.

Barry is mistaken about libraries %26amp; videos: libraries can and do buy videos off Amazon and loan them out. Actually at my current library, we usually get them through DeepDiscount.com since the prices are cheaper, but we get them through Amazon on occasion, and yes we just loan them out. It's perfectly legal thanks to first-sale doctrine. We do sometimes pay licensing fees for public performance rights, but never for circulating videos or DVDs to individual users.

Before you donate your video games to the library, ask whether they want them. Unless your library already has a collection of video games, they'll need to decide:

whether a collection of video games fits their mission,

whether there is room in the budget to maintain such a collection,

whether they need to provide games for more than one console,

what kind of physical processing is necessary,

what kind of security is necessary,

what policies are appropriate (loan periods, fines, etc.),

    and other issues.

Frankly, many libraries are just going to pass. I'm pretty sure that would be the case at my own library: if we were given a collection of video games we'd probably just put them in the annual book sale. Then again, many libraries -- especially public libraries -- do have circulating collections of video games, and many others are willing to try. To find out how your library feels about it, ask.My library lends out videos of movies; would it be legal for them to lend out video games?
that depends. I'd say probably ok if they are used, but if they are new, they would have to be specifically licensed for that, as the videos are. the library can't just buy them off amazon and then rent them out.

it might vary depending on the game and the specific license you have for it though

best way to find out is to talk to the librarian and ask if they can use them in this way - if they research it and say yes, then great, if no, then find another use for them.

If that does not work you will have to probably copy the songs

from your sis's share folder to your itunes folder.

Can a music major go on directly to get a masters in library science?

To keep it short, I'm currently a music composition major at the University of the Arts in philadelphia. I would still like to compose after I graduate, but both for the sake of job security and because I love books, would I be accepted and be able to get into a school as a Library Science major for a masters degree? And, assuming I graduate and all that, would I be able to work at any library, or would I be restricted to music libraries? Can a music major go on directly to get a masters in library science?
You don't need a specific bachelors to enter an MLS program. Make sure you do your research on the programs because a love of books isn't enough to get you through all the computer science and database stuff. After you get your MLS you can work at any library, public school librarians have additional certification requirements that vary by state.

Make sure you go to an ALA accredited program. The ALA website is really helpful. Can a music major go on directly to get a masters in library science?
You would be able to go for the masters. The only thing is that you might not have all the basics covered, so you might have to take a few extra classes. And once you graduate and become a librarian, you can work anywhere except school libraries, because for that you also need a teaching degree. Can a music major go on directly to get a masters in library science?
Yes, you can get a degree in library science from any major. No, you won't be restricted to music libraries. Friends and family of mine have entered MLS programs with degrees in art, English, history, even science.
Yes. It is one of those degrees that and bachelors will get you into.

  • Is is possible to transfer your music library from your Ipod to another computer?

My cd rom on my laptop will not work, so I want to transfer the library from my Ipod to my desktop, but have absolutely no idea how to do it, if it is possible. Somebody help me!!Is is possible to transfer your music library from your Ipod to another computer?
it is possible, however if you have songs purchased from itunes, and put into your ipod straight from the computer used to sync your ipod, they will not be allowed to be played elsewhere. In those cases, its better to burn them from the computer used to sync the ipod into regurlar music cds, or as mp3s.

You can use DVD blanks to store more songs, and use less disks.

Now to transfer the songs you have folllow the directions on the net. I know there is good magazine that is realted to computers and electronics, and has all the steps.

the main thing is your ipod has to have check the box "allow the used of harddrive" (or something similar).

then plug into your computer that you want to copy your songs. Then open the device with the computer (not Itunes), and go into tools, and click the box where it says to show hidden folders in the tool options (its about halfway), this is similar on both windows xp and vista.

Now where it shows the music folder you will see all kinds of folders that start with letters and numbers (example UB01), and once you click on each one of the folders, many songs appear. go back and copy the whole music folder by right clicking "copy".

now go into your computer and paste into a new music folder. Once you done this, you have to drag the songs into the itunes program by highlighting them, or selecting all of them and dragging them in a new folder in itunes.

well, good luck.Is is possible to transfer your music library from your Ipod to another computer?
use www.yamipod.comIs is possible to transfer your music library from your Ipod to another computer?
yes but you will need to buy a program called iPod copy. itds not expensive and once you install it, you will be able to drag songs from your iPod to your computer and save tthem there. good luck =]

How can I transfer my iPod Library from one computer to another?

I am currently living in North Carolina but this summer I will be moving to my dad's house in Miami. I won't be able to take my current computer down there so I was wondering if there was a way I could transfer my library to my dads computer in Miami when I go down there, so I don't have to upload and download all 1,500 songs I have all over again. Somebody help me out, what can I do!How can I transfer my iPod Library from one computer to another?
You can upload all your songs to a file database website. Such as zshare.net, uploaded.to, sendfile, foldershare.comHow can I transfer my iPod Library from one computer to another?
I know that you could put all of your songs onto a CD or you could put it on a hard disk external storaage device and then reload them all onto your new computer. How can I transfer my iPod Library from one computer to another?
Depending on what ipod you have, you could put everything on your ipod, then upload it to your dads computer. Or buy an external hard drive, and transfer it to that. You could also try that go to my pc software (or something like it), but I think you'd have to leave your pc on to do it.
There's no way you can transfer songs from one iTunes Library to another because they are on separate libraries. As one of the answers say above stating that you can get the songs onto your iPod and then transfer it to the other library is false.Once you plug your iPod onto another iTunes library,it'll ask you if you want to use this computer to sync or not.If you press yes,it will delete all the current songs you have on your iPod.So therefore you cannot transfer songs from 1 iTunes Library to another. You can copy the songs onto a CD and then from the CD you can transfer the songs onto the other iTunes Library though.Or you can put it into a folder and transfer the folder to the other computer.Other than that I don't have anymore ideas on how to transfer songs from 1 iTunes Library to another.

now it's even easier to do than before! Just turn on home sharing if you have itunes 9.

Open iTunes on your desktop computer, turn on home sharing, it will ask you for your apple ID and password, follow the instructions.

Now go to your laptop, open iTunes and turn on home sharing too, use the same apple ID and password, on the sidebar ur gonna see your other library , click on it and all your music will show up, now just drag everyrthing to your new library.

Here's a page that explains it better and with pictures.

I bought a couple songs through the iTunes store on my iPod touch. I've been trying for a while, but I can't seem to figure out how to put those songs into my library so I can later put them onto a CD. Help would be greatly appreciated. Wow, I think it's kind of hard to explain but if you have wifi you need both computers on the same wifi connection and you can try to connect them through that.

Or you could get a flashdrive and put them on that and transfer that way. Some are really cheap. And that is the easiest way if your music is not protected. How do I move my iTunes library from one computer to another?
If you have itunes on the other computer, just connect your ipod to it and sync it. Wait, that might erase the songs from your ipod.

How can I transfer my Itunes library from 1 computer to another?

I bought a new computer and want to transfer all the songs onto it from the old one. They're all iTunes purchased songs, legal, etc.

Can you give me step-by-step instructions on how to transfer the library without using my iPod?How can I transfer my Itunes library from 1 computer to another?
    USB Flash Drive.

The size of the flash drive you should buy will depend on the size of your iTunes library. If your iTunes library totals up to 4gb, then You would need to get a 4gb Flash drive. Drag and dropping music works with iTunes, so that'll make things easier.

First connect the USB flash drive. Open it up and view the folder. It should be emptied, unless it isn't new. Open up iTunes. Select all of your songs from your library, and drag it into the USB flash drive. It may take some time if you have a large library. Eject the flash drive. Connect it to your laptop. Open up the flash drive. Open up iTunes. Do the reverse directions. Select all music from your USB Flash drive and drag it into your iTunes library.

In your case, you will be selected the songs not on your laptop at the moment, if you select songs you already have in your iTunes, you'll end up with 2 of the same songs, which isn't what you want.

I tested this out with a Windows XP desktop %26amp; laptop, Not sure if it'll work with a Mac. However, I am pretty sure it'll work.

Burning the songs into Audio CDs will work to, but a bit time consuming for large music libraries. Same with attaching them as an email attachment.

If you know where your songs are located on your computer, you can add it to a shared folder on your network. That way, all the computers on your network will be able to view your songs. However, I recommend using a USB flash drive.

Sorry it isn't detailed and clear enough to understand, or is it?

Here's how to transfer songs on your ipod from one pc to another while still retaining your song ratings

1.Export the source iTunes library as an XML file (File%26gt;Export Library…). This will create a file that holds information about the location, song filenames, and *song rating*!

2.Replace the file paths in your XML file with the path that the songs from the source library will be in when you import them. This path may point to your FireWire Drive, a DVD you have burned, or a temporary folder on your hard drive that you have copied your music to. Just to be sure of the new path, copy one of the files from this location to your library, export your destination library, and look at the file path to that song in the resulting XML file. To actually replace the file paths, I did a Find/Change in TextWrangler.

3.Set the preferences in iTunes in your source library to “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library.” This is under “Advanced.”

    4.Import your library (File%26gt;Import).

5.Delete redundant files. If you’re like me, you have some duplicate songs in your multiple libraries. This is a tedious task, but I plan to do it over time.

If you aren’t keen on messing with XML files - and play count isn’t important to you here's a simple process, involving smart playlists, for retaining song ratings when you transfer your iTunes library.

iTunes does not transfer your "My Rating" field to a new computer. Yes it is in the XML, and you could probably edit this file, but The following is a non-technical process for transferring your music, playlists, and "My Rating" to a new computer that anyone can do in a few minutes. (this is windows, mac may be different).

    On the old computer:

    1. Create 5 Smart Playlists for one for each of your star ratings (1-5 stars)

    2. Create 5 (regular) Playlists for one for each of your star ratings (1-5 stars)

    3. Go to each of the Smart Playlists and "Select All" (Ctrl+A)

    4. Drag all songs from each of the Smart Playlists to their corresponding (regular) Playlist

    5. Choose "Export Playlist" from the File menu. This will generate an XML file of all Playlists.

    On the new computer:

    1. Move/load your music on the new computer

    2. Import the XML file by selecting "Import" from the File menu

    3. Select "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu

    4. On the "Advanced" tab "Change" the "iTunes Music folder location" to the folder that contains the newly moved music files.

    5. Make sure "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" is checked and select "OK"

    6. From the Advanced menu select "Consolidate Library" and click "OK" to the dialog window.

    7. You should now have your music without "My Rating"

    8. Now go to each of the 5 (regular) Playlists and "Select All" (Ctrl+A)

    9. Right mouse click, Select "My Rating" and choose the appropriate rating for the playlist

    10. Once complete for each of your ratings you can delete the 5 (ratings) Playlists

    Hope that helps

You can copy the files on your iPod by downloading iDump, and then select what you want copied on your iPod, and press start copy. iDump is completely free and does it's job well.
